Secret Miami

Stuck for things to do in Miami? Get the advice of a Miamian on what to visit. There's always something going down in Miami, the most difficult part is knowing the best places to go if you're not from the city.

To help you find some of Miami's best kept secrets we've got our team of Miami natives to come up with some suggestions for the best places to visit in Miami.

Top Hidden Miami Attractions

Here's some of the things that the MiamiRentalCar.net team came up with:

Gator Park
I'm sure you've heard about the famous Everglades swamps. The Gator Park is located right at the edge of these swamps. At the park you'll be able to admire a large variety of reptiles, especially alligators. You can also take part in some activities which involve close interaction with reptiles. You might not want to stick your hand in to an alligator's mouth like the local experts do, but you can still touch them. The Gator Park is open to the public every day from 9am to 5pm. For about $23 you can have full access to the park and you'll even get to ride in an airboat through the Everglades.

Miami Science Museum
The Miami Science Museum offers an amazing and educational experience to all visitors. There are numerous exhibits to explore and interact with which change regularly. Staff members at the museum are always willing to answer your questions about anything inside the museum. For about $15 it's a good deal for some fun and learning. Parking is free for all museum visitors. The Miami Science Museum is open every day between 10am and 5pm but remember that you can't purchase tickets after 4:30pm.

Miami Beach
Even though it's not really a hidden attraction, Miami Beach offers a large variety of activities for everyone to enjoy, especially during the summer. For example, about half a mile away from the beach there's a long paved area which is popular with bikers and skaters. You can also find a large number of pubs and bars where you can enjoy a cold drink or a hot coffee. Miami is also well known for tattoo artists; a bunch of tattoo parlours can be found within 5 minutes of walking from the beach. Overall, a great place to spend the day with something to interest anyone.

Tropical Park
Tropical Park is the best place to do some exercise. First of all, the park is huge. It is spread over 270 acres. It offers the possibility of playing almost any sport you can imagine. Tennis courts, football fields, horse riding perimeters and many picnic areas. It is the perfect place to spend the day with your family or friends. The park was first opened in 1979 and since then it has remained very clean due to the highly professional workers. Entry to the park is free, but to use some of the facilities you might need to pay.

Country Club of Miami Golf Course
A golf course cannot be missing from our hidden attractions list. There are two different courses available at the Country Club, each with 18 holes. The course is in great condition, having many bunkers and water hazards. If you are not familiar with golf there are a few places at the club where you can practice and learn the basics from Country Club staff members. Even if you don't have any equipment they can help you. The cost of play if you have your own golf club is around $100 for an adult. If you don't have a golf club and want to learn the basics of the sport, prepare to spend around $200-$300.
